Other early settlers bearing this surname came from Clermont, Saintes, Bordeaux, Bayonne, and Languedoc. Etienne Ardouin of Montreal settled in Detroit around 1770; sometime later the family moved down the Mississippi, and are now concentrated around Ville Platte, LA.
