Baang

(male) Mainly U.S.: transferred use of the surname, in origin a local name from any of the numerous places in England so called from Old English brād ‘broad’ + ford ‘ford’. The surname was borne most famously by William Bradford (15901657), leader of the Pilgrim Fathers from 1621 and governor of Plymouth Colony for some 30 years.
