Ingram

(male) Transferred use of the surname, which is derived from a medieval given name. This was originally a contracted form of the Norman name Engelram, composed of the ethnic name Engel ‘Angle’ (or Ing, name of the Old Norse fertility god) + hramn ‘raven’. As late as the 17th century Engelram and Ingram were still in occasional use as given names in the north of England.
