Vishnu

(male) Sanskrit: the name of a secondary god in the Rig-Veda, who joins Indra in slaying the demon Vrtra and drinking the divine Soma juice. Vishnu is a personification of the sun, striding the heavens in three paces. In the Epics, Vishnu becomes a supreme god and Shiva's rival. Myths of his incarnations proliferate, now usually limited to ten, including Rama of the Ramayana, Krishna, Buddha, and Kalki (who is yet to come).
